It’s a girl!!!! (Puppy)

I am so excited to introduce all of you to the newest member of our family, Maggie D. She’s an adorable 5 month old puppy that we adopted from the fantastic people at Atlantic Small Dog Rescue. Maggie arrived on my birthday, April 21st, and is settling in to her new home just wonderfully. Really, the best birthday ever!!

Hi Stefan!

I’ve had the chance to show the album to a few family members and they’ve just been blown away by the quality. The album is absolutely stunning. I’ve never seen anything like it! The pictures are so clear and the layout really tells the story of our wedding. The leather back and the glass cover really make it a wonderful show piece! I’m so excited to have such a keepsake! I just wanted to say (if I haven’t already said it) how extremely pleased we were with your work. You really captured our day and managed to take beautiful shots even despite the terrible weather! You are so friendly and easy to work with that we felt so comfortable when taking photos with you, which I think is extremely important since it can be an awkward situation for most people! I also loved the dvds you provided and found the time in which each step was done to be very reasonable. I would highly recommend you to anyone in need of a photographer and am very glad that you’ll be doing our friend’s wedding this July! Ahh…wedding details. All the little and big things that give each and every wedding a personal touch to truly make the day unique and special. Being involved with weddings for over 10 years, and getting married myself last October, I know just how much thought and energy goes into every detail of the day. I learned a long time ago that there is no detail too small on a wedding day! To achieve beautiful wedding photographs, attention to detail is a must. As a documentary wedding photographer, I want to capture the essence of your day: the emotions, the excitement, the love….and the details.

I would like to share with you a few photos I took of Misty and Kendall during a short break from their wedding reception. At one point during the evening I looked out the window and saw that the light was absolutely beautiful. I knew we had to sneak outside for a few minutes to capture some shots. Misty and Kendall were all for it! These pictures were taken in a field just outside the reception site, the Old Orchard Inn near Wolfville, NS in August. The light was going down and quickly changing, but that’s when it’s the most special.

Happy New Year to you all. Now that 2012 and winter are firmly underway, what better way for me to look back on the past year than by re-visiting a fantastic wedding from 2011 – Katie and Evan’s. Their wedding took place at the beautiful Digby Pines Resort on a hot, sunny August day. It was such a fun, relaxed wedding day and one that I am very grateful to have been a part of.

When you meet two fantastic people like Natalie and Brad, you feel fortunate that your paths crossed. Being lucky enough to photograph their wedding day, and witness and record their deep love and friendship for one another, I can’t help but feel truly blessed. To hear how happy they are with my work on their wedding day is a great reminder of why I do what I do.

Prostate Cancer & Photosensitive – Tied Together Project

I am proud to be a part of Photosensitive’s (http://www.photosensitive.com) Tied Together photo project.

PhotoSensitive was founded in 1990 in Toronto as a non-profit collective of photographers determined to explore how photography can contribute to social justice. The group seeks to photograph issues that affect our social well-being – poverty, hunger, illness, racism, ignorance and injustice.

At a time when one in six Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, there has never been a more pressing need for PhotoSensitive to partner with Prostate Cancer Canada to raise awareness of the disease.

PhotoSensitive is partnering with Prostate Cancer Canada to produce TIEd Together, a black-and-white photographic exhibition telling the stories of Canadians’ experiences with prostate cancer.

The project will feature at around 100 images of people affected by the disease, along with their stories. There will also be a considerable video component, with several survivors talking about their experiences.

TIEd Together will debut in Halifax in fall 2011 and then travel across Canada.

At 72, Peter MacDonald flexes his muscles for prostate cancer awareness. Peter was taken aback when the disease first struck. He was active, fit, ate well and did all the right things to stay healthy. Being an optimistic person, he approached his fight against prostate cancer with a positive attitude. Now an eight-year survivor, Peter remembers repeating to himself: “I can handle this. I can beat this.”
